Privacy Policy

DROP Schools (“DROP”, “we”, “us”) provides a school-bus transport app that lets parents track their child’s bus and lets bus matrons manage the daily ride. This policy explains what we collect and why. It applies to the DROP Schools mobile app and its backend service at schoolsapi.dropeg.com.

Who uses the app

DROP Schools is used by parents and bus matrons. Accounts are created and provided by a child’s school — there is no public sign-up. Children are not app users; a child is a record managed by their parent and school.

Information we collect

• Account information — the name, email address, and phone number on the parent or matron account provided by the school.
• Child information — a student’s name, grade, home pickup address, bus assignment, and daily attendance (boarded / dropped / absent). This is entered by the school, not by the child.
• Location — while the app is open, we use precise device location to show the bus on a map and, for matrons, to share the bus’s live position with the parents on that route. We do not track location in the background.
• Device / push tokens — a notification token so we can send boarding and drop-off alerts.
• Basic diagnostics — limited crash and error information to keep the app reliable.

How we use it

• Show the live location of the bus and the estimated time to the pickup stop.
• Send parents “boarded” and “dropped-off” safety alerts.
• Let parents mark a child absent and view attendance history.
• Let matrons see the day’s route and mark each child boarded or dropped.
• Keep the service secure and working.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising or third-party tracking.

How information is shared

• With the child’s school — attendance and ride information is shared with the school that operates the transport.
• Service providers — we use trusted providers only to run the service: hosting (our server), Google Maps for map display, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for push notifications. They process data on our behalf.
• Legal — if required by law.

Children’s privacy

The app is intended for parents and school staff (adults), not for children. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children. A child’s information is provided and managed by the parent and the school.

Data retention & deletion

We keep information for as long as the account is active and as needed to provide the service. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by emailing us — see below. Deleting an account removes the associated personal data, subject to any records the school is required to keep.

Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored on our secured server with regular backups. Passwords are stored hashed.

Your choices

• You can turn location permission on or off in your device settings (the live-map features need it while the app is open).
• You can manage notification alerts in the app’s Profile settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will change when we do.
